Post Birthday Pictures

It has taken me a few days to post these pictures because we have all been so sick.  We are all on the mend now - thankfully!!
Jason and Reagan woke up early on their birthday (5:30 am is around the traditional time)...
but they were not too tired to smile at what they woke up to....
Birthday balloons, birthday crowns, birthday gifts galore, and birthday cinnamon muffins - it doesn't get any better - or does it?
It does get better - they woke up to a SNOW DAY on their birthday!!  NO SCHOOL!!
 Everyone was soooooo happy!!!
Everyone except Joshua - his school wasn't affected by the snow....
 JUST KIDDING...

The twins were so spoiled - they got nerf guns, guns that make sounds, and drawing stuff from their brothers (FIVE BELOW is the best store next to the Dollar Tree - if you have one near you, check it out!!)
They got arts and crafts stuff from Gramma Pauline, gardening stuff from Grammi and Papa, and a Lite Brite from Aunt Hopi -
They got Star Wars space ships...
Our two little monkeys had a super fun Happy Birthday Snow Day!!!
And, when all the boys went their own ways to play and have fun on their day off, Elli took the opportunity to steal a birthday crown and take her place as the Princess in the house;)...
But - it didn't officially end until after their Birthday cupcakes...
It was a super 4th birthday!
****************************************
Just a side note:    HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LAURIE KOPP - who shares the twins birthday with them - but we won't tell you how old she turned:)!

Today Jay and Ray turn 4 years old!!

We have been counting down the days until Jason and Reagan's birthday for months now.  It is so hard when you are little to go to birthday parties and not wonder "hmmm, when am I going to get to open presents?".  I cannot believe our two little monkeys are going to be 4!!  Let's take a look at some past birthdays...
On Jason and Reagan's actual birthday, Jason weighed in at 4 lbs. and Reagan weighed in at 2 lbs...
Reagan
 Jason
Not sure which baby this is...haha
 Jason - Daddy's fist...
 Reagan - Daddy's fist...
 Grandma Faith holding her twinsies...
The boys get to visit their brothers with Grammi...
After 2 weeks in the NICU, and Jason weighing 5 lbs. and Reagan weighing 3 lbs., the twins came home...
Jason and Reagan on their first birthday...look at how little Brandon, Trevor, and Joshua look too...
One of our families traditions is to wake up super early on birthday mornings and have cinnamon rolls.  We light candles and sing happy birthday...
On their second birthday, Jason and Reagan were a little scared when the lights went out and we sang...
Later that day they had fun sneaking nibbles of their cupcakes...
On their 3rd birthday, clearly, they enjoyed the lights out and the singing...
And they loved their presents...
Stay tuned for Birthday 4 pictures...
Before you go, take a looksie at the surprise birthday video that Joshua made for the twins...

Today I am dedicating my post to the DiGregorio family.  Pastor DiGregorio and his wife Tammy are friends of ours from Ohio.  We attended their church while we lived there, and they quickly became good friends of ours.  I blogged about our last church service with them HERE. On Monday, I received an email from them with horrid news.  Their son, Michael, passed away on Monday.  Michael was a few years older than Brandon.  My heart has been so heavy and achy for this family.  My kids and I have been praying for this family this week and I am going to ask you to do the same.  I haven't really talked about it much because I just break down when I think about it.  I am crying and shaking as I write this.  But, yesterday, I mentioned it to our Pastor over here and talking about it seemed to help me a little so I decided to blog about it today.  I so wish that I could be there right now for them.  I don't know what I would do other than mourn with them, but I just hurt so bad for my friends.  There cannot be anything more tragic and mournful than this.  Could you please keep my friends in your prayers?

Elli gets messy...AND...

Brandon took this video last night - too cute!!

Now for the AND part...
You are all going to have to get used to me introducing you to children in need of homes and prayer.  I cannot explain why my heart is so heavy for these children - I know that without my niece Lily I never would have given these children a thought - but every time I hear a story, or see a face, my heart gets drawn in and I am heart linked with these kids.  All of the stories you see on my blog are from my sister-in-loves blog.  I don't know how much of an audience I give these stories.  I do have a few people who read my blog, and my hope is that my readers are inspired to link hearts with me in prayer, and maybe spread the stories to others who don't read my blog.  I just feel a need to something for these kids, even if it is just praying and blogging to my small audience.  So without further adieu, meet Peter...
Peter is the same age as Jason and Reagan.  He was born 1 month after them.  As I watch Jason and Reagan getting ready for their 4th birthday, my heart breaks for this little boy who has suffered in an orphanage, with all kinds of health issues, without a mom or dad or family, these past 4 years.  Jason and Reagan have been counting down the days until their birthday - today is T-8 days - Peter's birthday will probably come and go without a big fuss.  And, like all the other kids at the orphanage, Peter's day of transfer to the mental institution clouds his future with gloom.  Andrea at Reece's Rainbow wrote my sister-in-love to ask her to blog about Peter, this is a little of what she said...
"Peter has been listed with us nearly his whole life.  I am surprised he is still alive.  Not a soul has ever inquired about him.  We have never had a good picture of him.  So my prayer is that some visibility on your blog will truly help save his life."
I cried when I read that.  I am still crying as I write this.  This is the profile listed on Reece's Rainbow for Peter..
Boy, Born February 20, 2007
New picture from July 2010
Peter is a darling little boy with brown hair and brown eyes. He has so much to bring to a family, but he was born with multiple challenges in addition to his Down syndrome. From his medical records: severe delay of stato-motor development, congenital heart disease(ventricular septal defect with high degree of pulmonary hypertension), condition after closing of patent ductus arteriosus and coning of pulmonary artery, retinal angiopathy, farsightedness, nystagmus.
Peter needs a family right away, so his medical complications can be addressed by US physicians, and he can finally begin to live life as he should! Please give Peter this opportunity!!
PETER IS FACING THE INSTITUTION IN A FEW MONTHS, PLEASE CONSIDER PETER!

My boys and I were praying for and talking about the special kind of family that it is going to take to adopt Peter.  I cannot even imagine the challenges that will come with this adoption.  I do believe, though, that there is someone out there for Peter.  Throughout my life, I have really been surprised by "people".  Sometimes surprised in a good way, sometimes in a bad way.  But I have been surprised by people enough to believe that there is a very special person/family out there, that would be willing to give Peter a home given the opportunity.  So, let's pray, get the story spread, and wait for that surprise!!

An uplifting post...

With a three day weekend behind us, let's start this week off with some fun videos...

This first one is Elli trying to put her PJs on...
This next video is of Elli holding onto Reagan and walking behind him...
Elli is getting so big!!!  I cannot believe she is going to be 1 year old in a month and a half!!

Please don't forget to pray for Olga - and maybe there is some way that you could bring Olga's story to people who haven't heard it.  Could you print up a flyer to distribute at church?  Could you email family and friends and have them pray and spread the word too?  The more people that hear her story, the greater the chances that she finds a family.  Thank you so much for your prayers and help!!

Olga (deep sigh)...

Olga's adoption fell through - no details other than for some reason, the adoption fell through.  I am so sad because she could be moved (may have already been moved) to the mental institution at any time.  I have been to a couple of mental institutions here in America.  As a teenager, I donated some time playing my flute and singing to the people there.  In America, these are terrible places to be in - in Moscow, Russia (that is where Olga is) these places have to be unspeakably horrid.  Once again, my heart is so heavy for this little girl, will you please pray for this little girl again.
I posted this scripture in a  previous post, James 5:16 - "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."  The dictionary defines fervent as "exhibiting or marked by great intensity of feeling : zealous" - zealous is defined as "marked by fervent adherence to a party, faction, cause, or person: filled with or characterized by zeal".  Will you please join with me in a fervent prayer full of zeal for Olga?

Just an added side note - As my husband frequently says..."just sayin'..."

I find it sad that being full of zeal for a sports team or a movie star or even a hobby is not just accepted, but encouraged.  But, mention "praying fervently" and people so frequently speak discouraging words.
I remember a time when I prayed, but it was more like wishing on a star.  I spoke the words, because I wanted to pray, but I didn't really believe that anything would happen.  I am sure I probably spoke discouraging words to people who talked about prayer in a way that I couldn't relate.  I also remember the day that God became a real person to me.  God says in Jeremiah 29:11-14 - "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.  12Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.  13And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.  14And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD."  When my prayers became fervent, and I sought God with my whole heart, He was there.  As my husband frequently says..."just sayin'..."

Followers...

A while ago I removed my "Followers" gadget.  I took it off because I figured it didn't make a difference whether I had it or not since my blog is just a tiny, private blog.  However, when my niece Mackenzie was here, she informed me that it is harder for her to get on my blog without the "Followers" gadget on.  So...it's back.  You can find it at the bottom of my blog.  From what Mackenzie said, it is a shortcut to get onto my blog?  I don't know - still not that computer savvy - but - I know some of you have trouble getting on every now and then, so if you click on the "Followers" gadget and enter your name and email address (remember, this is a private blog, so no spam will come to you, and your email address is already linked to my blog because you had to be invited to view it) you may have an easier time logging on.

AND THE WINNER IS....

BRANDON!!  Brandon won a giveaway on his Aunt Patti's blog - he won a 25$ gift card for an online baby shop called Lillygiggle!!  Yeah Brandon!  I cannot wait to see what you get your little sister;)!!

Davids has a family!!

Before I moved to Ohio, I really didn't do a whole lot on the computer except play games, type letters, do an occasional email, and order a few things on-line here and there.  Once we got to Ohio, the internet became my link to all my friends and family.  Over the past few years, I have come to realize how useful the internet can be to me in keeping in touch with everyone - through my blog, emails and now skyping.
Yesterday, I got a taste of how powerful a tool the internet can be in helping a boy like Davids.  The story I posted yesterday about Davids was posted here on Monday, January 8, 2011.  This blog post spored more blog posts and twits on twitter (whatever that is - haven't gotten that advanced yet) and facebooks on facebook (again...totally unfamiliar) and emails... AND just 5 days later, with only 9 days left until Davids' 16th birthday, a family, with paperwork all done and just looking for a child to bring home, has stepped forward and Davids has a home!!  I would encourage you to go to this blog and read the whole story for yourself (to be honest it all sounds a little too good to be true unless you go see for yourself how this all played out).  While you are visiting the blog - take a look at the comments left on the posts.  It is amazing how quickly Davids' story was spread and how many responses and how much help it elicited in just 5 days- it is mind blowing!!!
I sent the story to some friends who are pastoring a church in Bulgaria and asked them to pass the story on, hoping to maybe generate some help over in that part of the world.  I had a response from my friend Taya in less than 15 minutes.  I was so happy to get her response so quickly and learn that she felt it was "no accident that I had thought to send them the story as the orphanages over in Bulgaria had burdened her and her husband's hearts many, many times".  She and her husband generated an email and sent it out to 53 neighboring people in less than a 1/2 hour.  How amazing is that!!
When Joshua and I read the story about Davids yesterday, we prayed for him, and then Joshua and I had a small conversation about whether or not God could find Davids a family before he turned 16 on January 23rd.  I have to say, there was a part of me that was skeptical, but there was also that small "mustard seed" of Faith that He would pull it off - AND HE DID!!  He drew people to this story - one at a time - through the amazing technology we have.  Thank you - all of you - who prayed and passed this story on one way or another!!  I don't know about you, but on January 23rd, I will be thinking of this face and smiling...

A very special post!!

Yesterday on Reece's Rainbow Olga and Kareen were moved from "Children waiting to be adopted" to "Children who have found their forever families"!!!  Look for yourselves!!  AMAZING!!!!  I am crying as I type I am so in awe of how amazing God is.  Clearly God had Reece's Rainbow and these children on His heart - He brought these children to our attention, moved our hearts to pray for them and get the word out, and now He is going to watch as they are welcomed into loving families!!!  I feel like jumping up and down and screaming I am so so happy!!!!  I think I might (and I will have my kids join in so that I don't look crazy) ;)!!  Thank you, all of you, who have prayed for these children!!  James 5:16 - "The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."

Now I have a sad story to share, and more prayers to request.  Meet Davids, and hear his story...

In January, 2010, I met an awesome child/young man at an orphanage in Riga, Latvia . His name is Davids. He was one of a few children we were introduced to that day for consideration in our Summer 2010 orphan hosting program. He was really sharp and smart, had a great sense of humor and looked you in the eye when he tried to speak the good amount of English he had already learned. I remember asking his favorite things to do and he didn’t hesitate to explain he loved kite flying in the sky and dreamed to be a pilot some day! He also enjoys soccer, basketball, swimming and all sports. But, the thing that surprised us most was his age! He was already 15 and effectively the size of a 9 or 10 year old child. We asked the orphanage director more about him later, and were told Davids is healthy, just small and has the kindest, gentlest heart. He generally plays with the younger group of kids because the older ones make fun of him and claim to be “too cool” to hang out with a guy his size. As for history, he has been in 4-5 different orphanages, but has managed to keep hope for a brighter future. He is a sincere and especially child towards younger children. Lego building is one of his hobbies! I remember, he made a joke when I asked him if he liked dogs and cats…a traditional question we ask… He said, “of course! But, I am no cannibal.” And gave us the biggest smile of all! Later, when he was among the group and doing art projects, he drew a picture of a jet airplane landing under a sky that resembled the American flag. When I asked him to explain it, he told me, “My dream to fly airplane and live in family in America !” From that point, he had us at “hello” and we were committed to helping him fulfill his dream.
For the summer program, Davids was hosted by a multi-cultural, multi-racial family and he did awesome! He was kind to his younger host brothers and sister and enjoyed just about everything they did. He especially liked to build and make things and play sports outside, with swimming being one of his favorites! He learned a lot more English and wasn’t shy to use it either. While his host family was not his forever family, our team and staff was so thankful when we received a call from a couple who wanted to go and visit with him before his return to Latvia . We knew time was short, and we encouraged anyone who might be interested, to meet him asap. After one meeting, the family who went, let me know they would be adopting him and how encouraged and inspired they were by Davids. After many discussions, we realized that he needed to know the plan, as his birthday was coming up…his 16th birthday, which means several things to an orphan. First, it means they are about to age out and can’t be considered for adoption. Second, it means that they are on their path of graduating the orphanage and will soon be on their own. Third, it means life as they know it now: food, shelter, protection and security is about over. In the first year after a child leaves the orphanage, generally 15% commit suicide. So, it was decided for me to talk to Davids when our interview returned to Latvia this past August and see how he felt regarding this adoption.
When I sat down with him, I had a translator with me, but he didn’t need her. We sat on a sofa in the social worker’s office and I asked him how he liked America and what he thought? He explained he loved it, and it was more than he ever imagined! I asked him if he remembered this particular man who came to meet him and spent time with him the week before he returned to Latvia , and he said “Oh Yes and we had fun!” I went on and said, “Well, this man told his wife about you and they want me to tell you they are so happy, and they want to adopt you.” Davids’ look was utter shock! He said, “Who, me?” and I confirmed it was indeed him. He said, “Oh yes! VERY VERY much YES! And, they want ME?” He was just the most excited kid I think I ever had the pleasure to tell about an adoption. Most kids are shocked, but usually have to think about it and have several questions to ask before they really accept it and consider it as real. Davids’, on the other hand, was just the happiest kid on the planet that day; his dream was coming true.
Last week, I got an email from his adoptive family… now just 10 days before his 16th birthday,it basically said they felt that they would adopt a girl they met (which was planned all along), but they no longer wanted to adopt Davids’. They had changed their mind. The next day, I got an unsolicited email from Davids’ social worker in Latvia . This is what she wrote:

"Hello Le Ann,
I wish to ask you about one of our boys, his name is Davids T. He was hosted Summer 2010 at a host family in IL. Since he was close to 16, we got information and you shared with him that there is family who will adopt him. It was not the family who hosted him, but another one.
Till this day we never received more information about the adopting family, and we confirmed that the Ministry also has no information yet. I must share, we are all worried and concerned. Davids became so nervous in this last month, his attention to everything is gone. Yesterday he was moved to hospital, because of problems with his stomach relating to the stress of not knowing. We know this all is because he is so close to his 16th birthday; it's on 23 January this year.
We don’t know what to say and can't say anything to Davids because we don't know. It will be a shock for him if it's not true, he has so long lived with this thoughts focused on this adoption and a family in America.
We wish to know the truth to share so he can know and be happy again.”

We have tried to contact his family and explain, show them, what their decision has done to this child. So far, there is no response, but more importantly, there is no time with only a few days that remain for someone to file the I800 with USCIS to adopt Davids’. I have explained to his social worker what the full situation is, and as a strong Christian, she has agreed to pray earnestly with us for a new family to come forward for this child! The adoption agency who was working on this case has agreed to do everything they can to expedite the adoption and assist where possible to get them through the system.

My heart is aching for this boy.  When I first read this story I thought of my Brandon.  Davids isn't much different from him in his interests - just born in a different country and put in an orphanage.  I don't think that this story is one I just "happened" upon.  I think this boy is on God's heart, and He is moving me again to pray and get the word out for Davids.  Acts 10:34 states that God is not a respector of persons - He doesn't show partiality - what He does for one He will do for another!!  God just found Olga and Kareen families - He will do the same for Davids!!  I am asking you to lift up Davids in prayer.
1Thesselonians 5:17, Acts 12:5, Romans 1:9, and 2Timothy 1:3 all mention "pray without ceasing" - why? Because God enjoys the sweet aroma...
Revelations 8:3,4 -"And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.  4And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand."
What an honor to think that God regards our prayers so highly!!  Let's fill heaven with "sweet aromas" for Davids!!
