Happy Father's Day early....

My Father-in-law passed away very unexpectedly, on June 6th.  Chris spent the past week in Arizona with his mom.  Throughout the week Chris heard from several of dad's friends that dad helped everyone....there were lots of people with lists of all the things dad had helped them with....he was the go-to guy for just about anything....that was who dad was.  I just talked to dad a couple of weeks ago when I couldn't figure out why the outlets in my kitchen weren't working.  Dad was quick to give me hints on how to find the problem and in about 15 minutes he had walked me through fixing the outlets.  Throughout the last 20 years this is what I have learned about dad....he was always there to help with anything....I cannot describe the empty place that is left with him gone.  I already miss him so much.  I have been thinking of Papa so much this past week and a half....we have all been sharing memories that we have of him....and each time I think of him I only have one picture that comes to mind....dad's smiling face....
Dad's memory will live on with his brother Tom and his wife Judy and their 6 children, my sweet mother-in-law Faith, my sister-in-law Patti and her husband Sam, my sister-in-law Hope, Chris and myself, 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
This Father's Day post is dedicated to dad.

One person's trash turned into my new planting/work table....

So...I have been wanting a planting/work table where I can organize and keep all of my gardening stuff...tools, gloves, yard bags, pots, seeds, etc.  Planting tables can get pretty pricey, so I have been thinking about how I could make my own.  A landscaper in our neighborhood had a bunch of old wood pallets in his yard and I asked him what he was going to do with them....he said he had to return them to the company he got them from....but he also said he would look for some extras for me.  This past Saturday he delivered 8 pallets to my garage :)
Yesterday Joshua and I worked at transforming them....
Elli swept up our mess and mowed the garage while we worked....
When Joshua and I finished, I had a brand new planting/work table...complete with paper towel holder
(Joshua's super idea) :)
Joshua and Trevor helped me make room for the table in the garage, and then I organized all my stuff onto it :)
The great thing about this project is that we didn't spend any money...we used only things we had lying around the basement and the garage.  My kids and Chris laugh at me when I pull over to the side of the road to remove hardware from an old dresser or pick up stupid little things that other people throw away.....LOL....hahaha :)
But we used it all on this project....

We only have 4 more pallets to disassemble and transform so I can get my car back into the garage.  Stay tuned because you will not believe what we are going to build next....
